What is Graston Technique in San Diego?

graston technique in san diegoGraston Technique® effectively breaks down scar tissue and reduces inflammation that causes pain and restricted mobility.

Graston Technique® provides clinicians worldwide with an improved diagnostic and treatment technique for many challenging musculoskeletal conditions. Used by physical and occupational therapists, hand therapists, chiropractors and athletic trainers, stainless steel instruments comb over and “catch” on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies areas of restriction.

The instruments enable clinicians to treat soft tissue lesions in a precise manner and with greater specificity. Once the tissue dysfunction has been identified, the instruments break up the scar tissue so it can be absorbed by the body.

By incorporating stretching, strengthening and ice in the treatment and rehab process, clinicians can rebuild the soft tissue injury into healthy functioning tissue.

Graston Technique® speeds rehabilitation and recovery, reduces the need for anti-inflammatory medication and allows patients to continue everyday activities. GT gives back the control that often is lost when injury strikes.

Read What People Are Saying About GT

“Graston Technique® was used to relieve and eliminate plantar fasciitis, soleus and gastrocnemius caused by excessive backpedaling, planting and sprinting forward while officiating NFL games. When my symptoms recurred after normal therapy, my physical therapist and athletic trainer suggested GT. Without a doubt, the recovery accelerated, the pain diminished within days, and the tendons and muscles were allowed to be stretched and strengthened to eliminate recurrences.” – John Parry, NFL Referee, (Akron, OH)
“I’m a huge fan of deep tissue massage and Graston Technique®. It gets deep into the muscle and fascia and breaks up scar tissue to help things move more fluidly.” – Kristin Wingfield, San Francisco and Corte Madera, CA
“I use the Graston Technique® instruments and find them indispensable in my approach to soft tissue problems. The instruments allow a deeper, more sensitive palpation and treatment of fibrotic tissue.” – Warren Hammer, DC, (Norwalk, CT)
“Graston Technique® allows me to place my athletes in their sport-specific positions in order to precisely isolate and release soft tissue restrictions that are interfering with their optimal movement patterns. It has been a key factor in returning both my professional and recreational athletes to the top of their game, be it track & field, golf, triathlons or ultrarunning.” – Robyn Pester, PT, ATC, (Eugene, OR)
